Nithsdale Regatta 2024

A small but perfectly formed squad of rowers ventured to the south of Scotland in Dumfries and Galloway. As with all grass roots club regattas this year, Nithsdale Regatta had quite a low entry this year but it was a hugely enjoyable day with good weather and close racing.

GRC had a very successful day with most participants getting event medals. Our Nov Women won their first regatta race as a coxed quad. We also won the Open Coxless Quad after suffering a major technical issue where steering became nigh on impossible from early in the race. Mixing squads, the Womens Nov 2x drove the boat home in 1st place in a hotly contested field. And finally, joining with Rebecca from Stirling Rowing Club, She and Mhari brought home a medal for the Womens Open 2x.

Half of the open quad came home 2nd in the R2 2x against strong opposition. As did the Womens Quad and the Mixed Quad being beaten by stronger opposition on the tight and bendy course.
